Our attorney, Mr. Thomas, is working very hard for us at a highly reduced rate.  The going rate for this type of work is upward of $350 per
hour and he is charging nowhere near that rate.  At our community meeting on March 1st we started accepting contributions.   At that time
we asked for each family to give $300.00.  We have had some wonderful people give that much, some more, some less.  Nevertheless, our
goal is to have 100% participation from everyone in order to accomplish our goal.  We CANNOT defeat this landfill without our attorney.  Every
day counts in our fight and we can't be held back from not having the funding to pay Mr. Thomas and any experts needed to prove our case.
If you cannot send the full $300 now, please send what you can and tell us the amount you will send later (15, 30, 60 days, etc).  You will
receive a receipt for your check.  We are still working on getting the tax deductible status and you will be notified of that situation.  PLEASE
dig a littler deeper in your pockets so that we can push forward.  Money speaks a lot louder than words.  As we've said before, we must
sacrifice a little now to protect  the quality of life we moved here for, our investments, and our families.  So get those piggy banks and coin
jars out!  I've even ransacked my truck for loose change and money, I'm sure many of you may have luck
doing that too!

Please make checks payable & mail to:

Become a Leader - Volunteer!

Our fight is getting stronger and our group continues to grow.  We really need some help volunteer-wise!  Here are a few things we know
right now that could get us going with some money but we really need help setting things up:

1) Group Fundraisers
Some of you have suggested doing a poker run both on motorcycles and horseback.  If you can put this together or any other fundraiser,  WE
NEED you to please take charge and chair the fundraiser.  We recently received emails from one of the equine rider groups in our area that is
doing a trail ride to benefit the local Hospice.  This is exactly the type of thing we desperately need.  We need those of you who are already
involved in group activities to please step up to the plate and coordinate the same type of fundraiser for our group.  Please email Paige/Ali to
let us know if you can volunteer and get your group going on this.  That way we can set a date for the event and stay updated from you.

2) Volunteers for Neighborhood Canvassing & Calling
This is SUPER important!  We really need a few people to volunteer to call and/or visit with our neighbors to ask for donations.  One on one
asks work to help update people who may be in doubt of the situation and prove to them that we are committed to the fight.  Paige and I
would love to have a little desert/coffee night with these volunteers to set out exactly what we need and form some teams.  That way we
can get everyone setup and things running smoothly.  The more help we have the easier things will be!

Time is not our friend right now as every day counts.  Paige and I are backed up with work for days to get the website going and continuing
our marketing efforts to the community and local businesses, we really need help getting volunteers to utilize their expertise and networking.
Thank you so much to all of you who have reached out to help us with some resources.  Paige and I are truly having a hard time answering
everyone's calls and emails as we are inundated with so much work, but we are trying our very best.  We live in such a wonderful community
for a reason - all of you who make it one!  So please help us and use your knowledge and experience to get some fundraisers going.

3) Restaurant Fundraisers
If anyone also knows some of the local restaurant owners in the area who can help sponsor some kind of a lunch/dinner fundraiser, please
let us know and start coordinating the details.  We need help thinking of some creative ways to get money with little effort or time/supplies
donated from others!!!!

Can you help?
If you can commit some time to this fight and become a volunteer - please let us know immediately!  There are MANY volunteer options, so let
us know what sparks your fancy.

Contact Your Officials

Call, fax, email your State elected officials AND their aides to let them know you do not want them giving away State Forest Land so the
landfill operators can have construction and demolition debris hauled through our beautiful forest.   The landfill applicants are not landlocked
and do not require this easement.  You may also ask them to get involved with the entire issue since your County Government has failed in
protecting its citizens and land.  Remember to remain respectful and rational only sticking to the facts.  We want to give them a reason to
want to help us - to be our allies and support, not to make enemies.

Call, email, or go to a Board of County Commissioners meeting to express your opposition to this proposed landfill.  Let them know they are
letting the residents of Hernando County down by saying they are not in favor of the landfill but doing nothing to prevent it.  Remind them
that they are elected officials.  The pressure we have put on them thus has done some good - but we must keep reminding them of how
many of us do not approve of their actions and this landfill.  Remember to remain respectful and rational only sticking to the facts.  We want
to give them a reason to want to help us - to be our allies and support, not to make enemies.
